Custom Apps for Businesses with Big Ideas.
What if an app could eliminate the most frustrating, repetitive, or time-consuming parts of running your business?
Essential Marketing Group designs and develops custom web and mobile apps that simplify business processes, automate workflows, serve customers, and bring completely new ideas to life.
Whether you need an internal tool built specifically for your team or an app you can offer to the public, we’ll help you turn your idea into a working app, without the traditional custom software price tag.
You don’t need to have the entire app figured out.
You just need to know what you wish were easier.
Maybe you’re tired of entering the same information in multiple places. Maybe your team is still managing an important process through spreadsheets, emails, and sticky notes. Maybe you’ve imagined a resource, tool, or service that would help other people—but it doesn’t exist yet.
That is where we start.
We help you dream up an app built around the way your business actually works instead of forcing your business to fit inside software created for someone else.
Your idea. Your process. Your app.
What could your app do?
The better question may be: What do you want it to do?
Your custom app could:
Automate repetitive administrative tasks
Track projects, clients, orders, inventory, or job progress
Collect information and organize it in one place
Generate quotes, reports, forms, or documents
Create a client, employee, or contractor portal
Manage scheduling, deadlines, approvals, or reminders
Connect steps in your workflow that currently feel disconnected
Give customers access to tools, resources, or account information
Offer paid content, memberships, or subscriptions
Turn a brand-new idea into an app people can purchase or download
Every business operates differently.
That is exactly why custom app development can be so powerful.
App solutions built around your idea.
-
Internal Business Apps
Custom web or mobile apps that help you and your team work more efficiently. These apps can organize information, automate routine tasks, reduce errors, and replace a collection of disconnected tools with one process designed specifically for your business.
-
Customer-Facing Apps
Give your customers a more convenient way to interact with your business. Your app could provide scheduling, account access, resources, calculators, order tracking, memberships, forms, communication tools, or another experience unique to your company.
-
Apps Built for the Public
Have an idea for an app that could help, educate, entertain, or solve a problem for other people? We can help you plan, build, test, and prepare your app for sale or distribution through the appropriate app stores.
Not sure which kind of app you need?
What’s Included in Our App Development Services
-
We identify the problem your app needs to solve, who will use it, and what features will make it genuinely useful.
-
We organize the app so it feels intuitive, looks professional, and is easy for its intended users to navigate.
-
Your app is built around your workflow, goals, and functionality rather than forcing your idea into a premade template.
-
When appropriate, we can connect your app to outside tools and services to reduce manual work and keep information moving.
-
You’ll use the app in real-world situations so we can identify problems, improve the experience, and make sure each agreed-upon feature works correctly.
-
Before launch, we review access controls, user permissions, sensitive information, deployment settings, and other security considerations relevant to your app.
-
Once the app is complete, you retain access to your app and its code. We’ll also help you understand how it works and what will be needed to maintain it.
Our App Design Process
-
We begin with a 30-minute consultation to discuss your idea, the process you want to improve, and what you hope the app will accomplish.
-
During a one-hour strategy session, we dig deeper into your idea. Together, we dream up the app’s features, users, workflows, automations, and possibilities.
You do not need to arrive with a perfectly developed plan. Helping you uncover what the app could do is part of our process.
-
After the strategy session, we create a proposal outlining the planned features, project scope, estimated timeline, and investment.
A 50% deposit is required before development begins. The remaining 50% is due at launch.
-
We’ll give you a clear list of the information, branding, content, account access, examples, and other materials needed to build your app. Once everything is collected and the scope is finalized, development begins.
-
In most cases, your first working version will be ready for review approximately two weeks after we have everything needed to begin.
This first look allows you to experience the app, see your original idea in action, and identify anything that needs to be adjusted.
-
After the initial edits are completed, you’ll use the app extensively for approximately one week. We want you to test real processes, try different scenarios, and identify anything that feels confusing or doesn’t work as expected.
We’ll continue refining and testing until the agreed-upon features work correctly and the app is ready to launch.
-
Before launch, we complete a final security and access review, prepare the app for production, and make sure you have the appropriate ownership and account access.
If your app will be offered through an app store, we’ll then begin the submission process. App store review and approval can add additional time to the project.
Most app projects can be completed within approximately two months when the scope is clear, needed materials are provided, and communication and feedback remain timely.
Custom App Design Pricing
-
Because every app has different features, integrations, users, and technical requirements, each project is quoted individually.
Most custom app design and development projects range from $3,000 to $6,000.
Your final investment may be affected by:
The number and complexity of features
Whether you need a web app, mobile app, or both
User accounts and permission levels
Third-party integrations
Data storage and reporting needs
Payment or subscription functionality
App store preparation and submission
Additional security or compliance requirements
A 50% deposit is required to begin the project, with the remaining 50% due at launch.
After launch, you should also expect ongoing third-party expenses. These may include Replit hosting and usage charges, database or storage fees, app store developer fees, payment processing, text or email services, AI usage, and other services required by your app.
We’ll identify the anticipated ongoing costs before development begins so you understand what your app may require after launch. Actual usage-based charges can increase as the number of users or activity within the app grows.

Replacing 1,900 Monthly Mailers With One Custom Web App
The Problem We Solved
Every month, MATSIF mailed approximately 1,900 printed scratch-off tickets to its members. Each ticket revealed either a $10 gift card prize or an entry into a second-chance drawing. Members then had to mail their winning tickets back to the office, where the team processed the results and mailed gift cards back to the winners.
The process required significant printing, postage, and administrative time. Member information and campaign results also had to be managed manually through spreadsheets, making records harder to organize, search, and track.
How We Solved It With a Web App
We created MATSIF Mobile, a custom web app that digitizes the entire scratch-off campaign. Members can now log in, scratch their ticket online, and immediately see their result. That result is automatically recorded and delivered to the office team—without mailing a physical ticket.
We also built a customized administrative dashboard that allows the MATSIF team to:
Create and customize campaigns
Manage member information in one centralized system
Record gift card winners and second-chance drawing entries
Search and filter records by month, member, prize status, or campaign result
Access campaign information without relying on multiple spreadsheets
The new app has reduced printing, postage, manual data entry, and processing time while giving the team a faster, more flexible way to manage its campaigns and member records.

Turning Scattered Client Communication Into One Organized Workspace
The Problem We Solved
Managing social media requires ongoing communication between our team and our clients. We were receiving photos, videos, feedback, content ideas, approvals, and revision requests through several different communication methods. Every client had a preferred way to communicate, creating a system that felt less like “one size fits all” and more like “one size fits one.”
Important information was spread across different places, making it harder to track which content had been submitted, what had been approved, and which posts still needed changes. We needed one organized process that would be simple and convenient for every client.
How We Solved It With a Web App
We created Content Planner Pro, a custom client communication and content-planning app that brings the entire social media management process into one shared workspace.
Inside the app, clients can:
Upload photos and videos for upcoming content
View their monthly content calendar
See planned topics, ideas, and upcoming posts
Proof completed social media posts
Approve posts directly through the app
Request changes and provide feedback
Keep all communication, files, and approvals in one organized place
Content Planner Pro has created a clear, consistent workflow that works for our team and our clients. It has reduced scattered communication, simplified the approval process, and made it easier for everyone to know exactly what content is planned, what is ready for review, and what happens next.
Frequently Asked Questions About App Design
-
A web app is accessed through an internet browser using a link. It can work on computers, tablets, and phones without requiring an app store download.
A mobile app is installed directly on a phone or tablet and may be distributed through an app store. We’ll help you determine which approach makes the most sense based on your users, features, goals, and budget.
-
Not at all. You bring the knowledge of your business, process, audience, or idea. We guide the planning, development, testing, and launch process while explaining everything in plain language.
-
Vibe coding is a casual term for creating software by describing the desired features and behavior to an AI-assisted development tool.
We use Replit to accelerate the development process, but we do not rely on AI without oversight. Your app still requires detailed planning, thoughtful feature decisions, testing, troubleshooting, security work, and human review.
-
Replit makes app development more accessible, but access to the tool is only one part of building a successful app.
We help define the right features, organize the user experience, provide detailed development direction, test workflows, troubleshoot issues, protect sensitive information, and prepare the finished app for launch. You are not simply paying for access to software. You are paying for the strategy, judgment, development, and support needed to turn an idea into a dependable app.
-
Most of our custom app projects range from $3,000 to $6,000. Your final price will depend on the features, complexity, integrations, users, platforms, and security requirements involved.
You’ll receive a detailed proposal before committing to the project.
-
Most projects can be completed within approximately two months. We typically provide the first working version about two weeks after receiving everything needed to begin.
Complex apps, delayed materials, slower feedback, significant changes to the original scope, or app store reviews may extend the timeline.
-
Yes. You retain access to your app project and code and are not locked into an Essential Marketing Group system. Any third-party platforms, integrations, or licensed services used by the app will remain subject to their respective terms and fees.
-
Yes. You can continue working with us for future improvements, or you can make changes through your own Replit project.
As with any live software, updates should be tested carefully before they are published so they do not accidentally affect existing features or security.
-
Most apps have some ongoing expenses. These may include Replit hosting, databases, data storage, usage charges, app store accounts, payment processing, email or text delivery, AI tools, and other third-party services.
These expenses vary based on what your app does and how heavily it is used.
-
Yes. If your app is intended for public distribution, we can help prepare it for submission and guide it through the appropriate app store process.
App stores have their own developer account requirements, fees, guidelines, review timelines, and final approval authority. Submission does not guarantee approval, but we’ll help prepare the app and address requested changes when they fall within the agreed project scope.
-
Apps can solve an enormous range of problems, but feasibility depends on the available technology, data, integrations, budget, security requirements, and platform rules.
Our strategy process is designed to explore the possibilities, identify limitations early, and determine the most practical way to bring your idea to life.
